The Monuments & Memorials of St. Peter Hungate church Norwich

St Peter Hungate has little in the way of monuments but many still remember it as the place for brass rubbing in Norwich. Unfortunately due to lack of funding the museum and the brass rubbing activities were all discontinued in 198x? Artefacts are in the care of the Norwich Museum Service. Since 2009, it has been the home of Hungate Medieval Art – an exhibition space celebrating Norwich’s medieval heritage and art.

There are a large number of floor monuments covering the remains of local dignitaries.

Wall Plaque Edward Bulwer

The only other wall monument in St. Peter Hungate is to Lt Col Edward Bulwer who was instrumental in openning the church as a museum of Ecclesiastical Art in 1933 becoming the first church to be reused for from its original religious purpose.
